UK-Israel Trade Continuity Agreement Signed
Updated: Jan 9
Dear Members and Friends!
We are very pleased and encouraged by the signing of a trade continuity agreement yesterday, 17 February 2019, between the UK and Israel.
A Step Towards Certainty
This agreement is a crucial step in preparing for BREXIT and ensures minimal disruption to our mutual trading relationship.
The new UK-Israel deal mostly replicates the existing trading arrangements.
It will be applied if the UK leaves the EU with a "no- deal" (at the end of March 2019), or upon the implementation period's end (January 2021).
The agreement simplifies trade and allows businesses to trade as freely as they do now, without additional barriers or tariffs.
It also protects existing preferential market access for important products.

Industry Reaction
International Trade Secretary, Dr Liam Fox: The agreement will help ensure UK and Israeli businesses, exporters, and consumers have the certainty they need to continue trading freely and in confidence as the UK prepares to leave the EU.
President of the Israel Britain Chamber of Commerce, Anita Leviant, Adv.: Bilateral Trade between the UK and Israel has been booming over the last several years. Tech, science, and innovation cooperation continues to grow each year, and the sky is the limit. Ensuring continuity for mutual businesses is a must, and this agreement provides the required immediate certainty while serving as a solid foundation for growth and enhancement of the existing two-way trade and investment relationship.
UK Ambassador to Israel, David Quarrey CMG: The Agreement is a key step in ensuring continuity for thriving trade and investment relations after another record year in 2018, with even more ambitious goals set for 2019.
