The 2030 Roadmap for UK-Israel Strategic Relations is Here
The Israel-Britain Chamber of Commerce (IBCC) is thrilled to share the details of the official 2030 Roadmap for UK-Israel Bilateral Relations, published by the UK government. This document elevates the already deep ties between our two nations into a formalized strategic partnership, defining the scope of cooperation through the end of the decade.
Signed on March 21, 2023, the Roadmap outlines a shared vision for two "freedom-loving, innovative and thriving democracies". It provides a comprehensive framework covering nearly every aspect of the bilateral relationship, with specific commitments across 12 key areas, many of which directly impact the IBCC's membership:
Key Pillars of the 2030 Roadmap:
Trade and Investment: Both countries are committed to deepening the relationship through a new, more ambitious Free Trade Agreement, particularly facilitating increased trade in services and technology.
Cyber: Cooperation on cyber is set to strengthen, with the UK elevating Israel to a 'Tier 1' cyber partner. Commitments include promoting international stability in cyberspace, protecting critical national infrastructure, and prioritizing links between Israeli start-ups and the UK ecosystem.
Science, Innovation, and Technology: The partnership aims to supercharge science and technology through new ambitious industrial R&D programs, ensuring both nations remain at the forefront of the technological revolution.
Climate & Health: Cooperation is set to increase in both climate innovation (cleantech, food tech, flood management) and health, including developing a dialogue to address healthcare challenges and building on the Pan-Northern UK-Israel health-tech gateway.
Security & Diplomacy: The roadmap is underpinned by extensive security and defence cooperation and commits to promoting regular high-level ministerial contact through an annual Strategic Dialogue.
This "living" document ensures that the strategic partnership will continue to evolve, benefiting our collective economic growth, security, and innovation.
